Most dogs are social animals who require regular interaction with humans and/or other dogs. Plenty of dogs thrive on the relationships that they establish with like-minded canine pals. Playcare is an excellent way for dogs to both socialize and burn off energy. Our off-leash play groups help to bring dogs of similar sizes and play styles together for truly memorable experiences. Playcare also provides plenty of exercise and fresh air.

Scheduling an Evaluation
When scheduling an evaluation, please keep in mind that we suggest your dog only stay for an hour or two on their first day to prevent overwhelm and excessive fatigue. We want to leave them wanting more! As such, please schedule the evaluation at least a day or two prior to when you would like your dog to remain in Playcare for more than two hours.
We typically accept evaluations during the following hours:
- Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Please avoid scheduling evaluations for the first Saturday of each month, as our monthly canine social takes place on the first Saturday of each month and tends to conflict with the evaluation schedule.
To schedule an evaluation, please call our office at 650-359-1627, or feel free to use our online form for evaluation requests. Please allow two days processing time for online requests.
Please schedule Playcare at least a day in advance. If you don’t schedule a day or more in advance, our Playcare staff may be unable to accommodate your request.
Our Playcare hours are as follows:
- Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Please drop off your dog by 11 a.m. for Playcare. You can pick your dog up any time after 12:30 p.m.
NOTE: We may assess a $5 late fee for every 10 minutes late you are in picking up your dog. Also, please note that Playcare staff may not be able to accommodate late pick-ups and may need to move your dog to another area when Playcare closes for the day.
You may schedule Playcare by calling 650-359-1627.
Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my dog doesn’t pass their evaluation?
Playcare is a foreign environment for many dogs. It is generally a high energy environment with dogs running around and playing with each other. Some dogs find this to be great fun, while other dogs do not. If your dog comes in for an evaluation and does not pass, it doesn’t mean they are a bad dog. When we evaluate your dog we are looking for body language that is comfortable, relaxed and happy to be there. If that body language is absent, we may give them time to acclimate, or we may not pass them. We want to ensure that the dogs who are in Playcare have a positive experience and go home more happy because of their time in Playcare.
Is someone supervising them at all times?
Yes, someone is supervising them at all times.
Can I bring food for them to have during the day?
Unless your dog has special needs we ask that you do not bring food while they are in Playcare. Because it is a high energy environment, we find that eating doesn’t always agree with proper digestion. We ensure that they are well hydrated throughout their day.
Do they have inside access—away from sun or rain?
Yes. Each yard has an inside play area with an outside play area. The doors to the outside are left open while the dogs are there.
Do they have scheduled rest time?
Because our group sizes are smaller than many other dog daycares, our groups naturally take rest times when needed. You may specifically request rest times if you feel your dog may need more rest than what naturally occurs.
Are large and small dogs always separated?
Again, because our group sizes are small, we base the way we plan our groups on temperaments rather than size. However, we do take size into account and maintain a careful eye for unsafe situations. Some big calm dogs are great company for the smaller dogs.
